6 sets of questions that will help you get fit - spiritually, relationally, emotionally, mentally, physically, and rhythmically - in 2015

Recently, my discipleship huddle created some solid questions that we used to help us think through what it means to get fit. Maybe the questions will help you, too.

1. How will I get fit spiritually?

How am I lacking spiritually? What am I missing? What will I read, see, hear, and do differently in 2015?

2. How will I get fit relationally?

How am I really doing in these areas: family, friends, co-workers, the lost? What can I do to grow my relationships in all these areas? What do I need to do to give the one I am with more focused attention? How can I become more encouraging?

3. How will I get fit emotionally?

What old patterns of living do I need to lose and what new patterns of living do I need to embrace to better overcome worry, depression, stress, anger, false guilt, shame, and self-accusation/condemnation? How can I better protect myself from Satan's attacks?

4. How will I get fit mentally?

What will I read, see, hear, do, and learn that will inspire and  inform me better? Are my life's rhythms right? What do I need to memorize?

5. How will I get fit physically?

What will I do differently to make better healthy choices when it comes to eating and exercise? How will I give into my flesh less? When and how will I exercise? What is my best weight? How will I get there/ Stay there?

6. How will I get fit rhythmically?

Am I appropriately passioned about the best and right things? What areas need more attention in my life - God, family, work, play, rest, recreation? What am I missing? What do I need to decrease? What do I need to eliminate? What do I need to add? What do I need to tweak?

Bonus questions:

What's it going to take for me to finish well? What's it going to take to me to be ready to die, to meet my Maker, to hear well done, to "die empty"?

If you will spend an hour with these questions in prayer, with an open Bible, with a journal and a pen, if you will write down your thoughts and impressions, if you will revisit your answers after a few days of quiet reflection, if you will develop 7-8 goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound that you will evaluate and reset), and if you will not only plan your work but work your plan, then you will become increasingly fit in 2015.

May God give each of us the grace to get more fit for His glory in 2015 than we have been in 2014!
